Senior Session with AJ
I could have sworn that I just did her sweet sixteen photos
Meet Avaya Dyer, a senior at Little Rock Central High School. I first met her when she was born. I could have sworn that I just did her sweet sixteen photos. Imagine how thrilled I was to get a call about her senior portraits.
Happy Birthday!!!
Do. Give. Serve.
A wonderful and exciting birthday weekend with the founder and director of Bridging the Gap of Central Arkansas.
Hard Work...
Persistence
& Hard Work Pays Off
Today's weather promised 50% showers but Ms. Brittnee said, NOPE, Not today!! She brought all the sunshine to chase the clouds away. Ms. Hillery will be graduating in December.
Anyone can...
I believe anyone can model. My new found friend, Ms. Chrystal came by to show us how. I see a lot of potential for this young woman, especially in runway. She is a pleasure to work with and I can't wait for our next project. Here are a couple selections from the session.
Austin Annual Family Portrait
10 YEARS!! It's been an honor
Look Who's Back!
I can say, that I have watched this family grow. This year marks TEN YEARS of capturing great family moments with these Guys and Gals and new addition puppy. I'm looking forward to many more.
Thank you for all the LOVE and SUPPORT.
Ready to cross the stage...
Up next is ShaNaya, a senior whose smile is absolutely infectious. Beautfiful girl inside and out! I only wish we would have been able to do a longer shoot.
"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition." - Steve Jobs
Congrats!
Sweet Sixteen with AJ
Its not everyday you get little kids come up to you asking if you are a princess.
On this very beautiful and sunny Saturday, I had to share this collection of images from AJ Dyer's Sweet 16 Session at the Old Mill and Riverfront area. I've known this witty, funny and outgoing personality of AJ since she was born. Boy, do I feel old. She's growing so fast. As usual the session was full of laughter and creativity.
Never too...
NOTHING was going to stop them from showing the world how much they love each other!
Fun and Laughter.....You are never too young to love someone. I know these guys had a great time and boy did they express it, lol. There was a glow througout the whole session. NOTHING was going to stop them from showing the world how much they love each other.
Congratulations Tracy & Anthony,
Beautiful People.
They Found Each Other.
A good indication that you’ve met a soulmate is attraction. Were you two attracted to each other almost immediately? Love at first sight can be an indicator but it isn’t a requirement. There will be some form of instant connection however. You will most likely feel like you have known this person before. Something may seem incredibly familiar about this person, but you can’t put your finger on it. Although you may have just met, there is some form of bond between you two that seems to transcend time and space.
Mommy & Son Session with Malona & Corbin
“It was a cold weekend but we were determined to come out and show out. I believe these guys did a good”
Now Mr. Corbin here didn't like my camera at first but after the first 3 shots, it was game after that. lol
After Corbin’s Moment the shy Ms. Malona Marie came out to show out too. lol
Mommy Son Session with Khristy and Kholbie
I just love it when I get a call from my fashionista AKA. Its was that time again to capture another moment in K & K world, lol. Kholbie is growing up to be a handsome little dude.
Portrait Tips
- wear solid coloured clothing so that we see all of your faces and no one person stands out. If you wear stripes or flowers, you will stand out from the rest of your group.
- choose muted tones that are a bit subdued so that you are the subject not your clothes and you don’t stand out from the group. Bright colours project (especially reds, oranges, and yellows), which also makes you look larger.
- choose similar tones for your top and bottom (both dark or both light) so that one doesn’t look bigger than the other. White top, dark pants will make your top look bigger. White pants, dark top will make your butt look bigger.
- choose 1-3 colours for your group portrait, ones with similar tones that go nicely together and have everyone work within that colour palette. For example: dark green, navy, and burgundy – all dark jewel tones. OR tan, a lighter olive green, and denims – all lighter, softer tones. So that we see the people first and your portrait looks stunning. Wedding group photos look so good because they’re all wearing the same colours and the people stand out!
- choose a top with sleeves at least to the elbow because your arms take up more skin area than your face and will draw attention and it may also make your arms look larger
- choose long pants for men/ladies or a skirt below the knee for ladies so that your legs don’t take attention from your faces, and you will be able to sit and bend without showing too much leg
- choose dark socks and footwear (unless it’s a barefoot photo on the beach) because white just sticks out like a sore thumb and that’s all you’ll notice in your portrait
- keep jewellery simple and minimalistic because too much draws attention from your face
- do your hair the way you’d normally do it while wearing these clothes – no fancy up dos with jeans, no pony tails with evening gowns, etc. This is common sense, or so you’d think, but I’ve had ladies go to the hair salon and get fancy up dos then show up in jeans and a t-shirt. It just simply doesn’t make sense cause you wouldn’t normally do that to put on jeans and go to the park for a BBQ or something. So tell them “it is because your portrait will be more timeless and represent more closely who you are, not just what you look like.”
- if getting a haircut or new hairdo, make your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to your portrait session – again this seems like a no brainer but you’d be surprised! Fresh hair cuts rarely look their best the same or next day. Ladies need time to practice working it, men need it to grow out just a little. Allow some time to live with your new look before your portrait session.
My Super Hero
The challenge of raising a child with special needs never gets old.
This is my first attempt at blogging.
For 10 years now my first born has been a joyful and challenge in my life. Cameron, my first of three, was born a healthy 10 lbs 15 ounces. The most adorable baby born that day. The little man I carried everywhere I went. Daddy's Man...
That day of your febrile seizure and then with pneumonia shortly after, really struck home hard. From these episodes, my little dude went from running & jumping around in the house, to a slow crawl. My boy no longer walked. It took us years to finally get a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy.
The challenge of raising a child with special needs never gets old. Everyday is totally new. How do you teach someone with a learning disability. How do help him....? WHY?! rolls through my head. The answer is to just continue to love him as if nothing happened. Continue to push him to be independent, treat him as a regular kid, and with that love, he is gradually overcoming his challenges, from Speech to Occupational skills. He too will show you he's no different from anyone else. With a smile that will open up the doors of your heart and, his determination to try, he encourages other around him. It's like he has special powers. Just one look and he got ya.
No one ever said it will be easy. No one ever said that it is exhausting. But when you don't give up, the rewards are awesome.
LOVE YOU, My Super Hero.....
